About the Author
Vikram Kotamraju
Vikram KOTAMRAJU is an Australian citizen currently residing in India, who dedicated over two decades of his life to the intensely demanding world of five-star culinary arts across Australia, America, and India.
Vikram’s life began as a modest struggle for acceptance. A well-described “black sheep” of his family, his early years were marked by ridicule and profound emotional isolation, forcing him to seek validation outside the home. Despite overwhelming familial scepticism and the complete lack of support—including being denied financial help for his migration—he forged a distinguished career as a chef, a testament to his sheer grit and relentless need to prove his worth.
The personal cost of this struggle was immense. After building a new life in Australia, tragedy struck when he lost his first wife, leaving him to raise two young sons alone, relying on resilience when everyone he knew turned away. The subsequent decade became a harrowing fight for emotional and financial survival, punctuated by family betrayal and manipulation that tore his family apart, leading to a devastating divorce and the shattering of ties with the world he knew.
This isolation brought Vikram to the brink of despair and bankruptcy, forcing him into ongoing medication for severe depression. Yet, even in the deepest moments of crisis, a single, fierce thread of hope held him together—the unwavering belief that true survival lay in the integrity of the self, even when everyone else was lost.
After losing everything material in Australia, Vikram underwent an arduous pivot, returning to India to seek refuge and healing at a spiritual ashram. Having shed the relentless pursuit of money, he began the arduous journey of “going inwards” through meditation.
The Survival System is more than a novel series; it is Vikram’s debut autobiographical fiction, an act of emotional unburdening. It is his method for confronting the suppressed trauma, the ordinary pressures, and the personal betrayal he endured, transforming a lifetime of hardship into a powerful narrative of ultimate resilience. It is a testament to the fact that even when the system fails, and the people fail, the human spirit can find its path to survival.
